My review of the McLEAR RingPay Payment Ring
I recently got my hands on (or rather it got on my hands!) a McLEAR RingPay payment ring and I thought I’d share my experience using it for a week. I should probably start by saying this is NOT a sponsored post, I’m not being paid to write this article, nor do I have any association with McLEAR — this is my totally honest opinion, warts and all!
I’ve been a fan of wearable tech for a while but a payments ring has always eluded me. There was a flurry of Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns I backed several years ago promising payments rings but they never delivered so it’s good to see British technology startup McLEAR have delivered the tech.
I decided to get a payment ring because I like to keep fit and be out and about hiking and cycling a lot and it’s not always practical to take a phone/cards with me on my adventures. I also think it’ll be very useful this summer for seaside trips to the beach with my kids, allowing me to leave my wallet and phone in the car but have the ring with me in case we need to make an emergency purchase of ice cream or fish & chips!
