Here are my top 10 hikes in the UK. For each I’ve ranked them based on views (assuming you’re lucky enough to get a clear day), difficulty (1= walk in the park to 10 = need hiking gear and a high level of fitness!) and facilities (car parking, toilets, cafe/pubs, signage, path maintenance etc)

1. Helvellyn via striding edge

Striding Edge, Helvellyn

Not one to attempt if you’re scared of heights! Start in Patterdale, go up Striding Edge (a narrow rocky path with a sheer drop each side) to the summit then down Swirral Edge towards Glenridding. You’ll be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views. Have a drink in the Travellors Rest pub on your way back down.

2. Seven Sisters
